  • This research was conducted to deter, ime the community structure of phytoplankton as bioindicator of water quality in Jakabaring Lake OPI and its contribution to the material ecosystem of class X SMA/MA. This research was carried out in Jakabaring Lake OPI for sampling and identification in the Laboratory of The Environment and Defense Agency Of south Sumatra. Descriptive approach and the method used is a bioecological sampling method consisting of 3 stations. Composite structures of composition and abundance of phytoplankton in Lake Jakoparing OPI are 4 genera namely flagillaria, pinnularia, spirulinna and clyclotella which are classified into 2 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae and Cyanophyta. The largest abundance of phytoplankton from the Bacillariophyceae class is Flagillaria (12 Individuals L-1). The range of the Shannon-Wiener fitplankton diversity index is 0.566.29 and has a moderate fertility level. Tourism activities and local residents greatly influence the structure of the phytoplankton community. The quality of water in Lake Jakobaring OPI falls into the polluted category, because based on the diversity index value in the waters of Lake Opi there are genera that dominate, the community structure is unstable and ecological pressure occurs.
