- The objective of this study was to know the effect of Reciprocal Teaching Approach to the ability in comprehending the concept of mathematics learning at the eight grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Palembang. This study used true experimental design with post-test only control design. The population of this study is all the eight grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Palembang in 2015/2016 academic years which consisted of four classes with 94 students. The sample consisted of two classes which taken by using purposive sampling, they were X.1 which consisted of 27 students as an experimental group and X.2 which consisted of 27 students as a control group. The study was conducted in five meetings. During the first to the fourth meetings, both of classes were given a treatment which is experimental group with Reciprocal Teaching Approach and control group with conventional model with Two Linear Variables Equation System In the last meeting, both of classes were given posttest to know the effect of student’s ability in comprehending the concept of mathematics learning after given a treatment. The data of this study collected by using test and observation . Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that students’s ability in comprehending the concept of mathematics learning during reciprocal teaching approach obtained the t_test = 5,64>ttabel = 1,67 so the null hypotheses (H0) was rejected, it means that there is the effect of reciprocal teaching approach to the ability in comprehending the concept of mathematics learning at the eight grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Palembang.
