- This research aims to describe the process of developing a teaching materials based mathematical comic on Pythagoras for eighth grade class. The type of research used is research and depelopment with using the development of formative evaluation. In this research involving 36 class VIII students in SMP Muhammadiyah Pangkalan Balai. The results of this research was a teaching materials based mathematical comic on Pythagoras which had undergone changes after going through the proscess several times revision based on the stages of development namely the stages of self evaluation, expert review, one-to�one, small group and field test. A teaching materials based mathematical comic on Pythagoras has been fulfilled for its use or effectiveness so that it can be used for students, teachers, and can be used as learning media. The results of the learning tests after the use of a teaching materials based mathematical comic on Pythagoras allegadly showed a good increase with the acquisition of the average score in the final test was 72.67 in a good category
