- When the Departments of Informatics offer Computer Organization and Architecture course in the first or second semester of undergraduate courses in Computer Science, we observe that students present difficulties in understanding certain concepts. To overcome these difficulties, it is important that teachers provide students with practical activities and exercises to illustrate these concepts and their applications. The main motivation for this paper was the lack of an updated software survey, which could help illustrate the concepts covered in Computer Organization and Architecture course for first year students. To realize this survey, we use the topics of Computer Organization and Architecture undergraduate course syllabus, offered at School of Technology, University of Campinas, as keywords to search in the two of main Computer Science bibliographic databases. In addition, we research on an Internet search engine to find simulation software to illustrate Computer Organization and Architecture concepts. The main result of this study is an indication of a set of interesting software for fixing the concepts of the Computer Organization and Architecture undergraduate course.
