- The preparation of five merocarboeyanine dyes derived from 4-phenyl-, 4-p-methoxypheoyl-, 4-p-etihoxyphenyl-, 4-p-bromophenyl-2-methylthiazoles and 2-methylbenzothiazole has been described. Their acetanilidovinyl intermediates were first prepared and then condensed with 3-ethyl-rhodanine to furnish the desired merocyanines.
