  • Iii the region of slow coagulation. the apparant electrokinetic potential \(\zeta\)a of an Al2O3 sol has been measured both by the electro-osmotic and electrophoretic methods in the presence of equicoagulating concentrations of electrolytes containing counter ions of different valency. A plot of I/ \(\zeta\)a against I/S (where S represents the bulk specific conductivity of the supernatant liquid in equilibrium with the coagulum) yields a straight line in agreement with the equation I/ \(\zeta\)a =I/\(\zeta\) + m \(_S^I\)
