- A new gravimetric method ham been developed for the determination of selenium, based on the quanÂtitative reduction of selenites and selenates to elementary selenium by amidinothiourea (ATU) in hydrochloric acid solution... In the range of 43.5 to 347.8 mg. of selenium in 100 ml solution, the accuracy and thestandard deviation of the methed are 0.2% and 0.24% respectively. Under the experimental conditions employed, anions and cations be not interfere. Binary mixtures containing selenium have been analysed by this method.
