- A purified cadmium ferrocyanide sol in two lots (sol A and sol B) has been prepared to ascertain the relation between stability and electrokinetic potential. The true \(\zeta\)-potential of sol A for a given slow rate of coatgulaition has been determined by the electro-osmotic am well as by the electrophoretic methods, using the Smoluchowaki equation with correction for surface conductance. The true \(\zeta\)-potential for a given rapid rate of coagulation of sol A has also been determined by the electro-osmotic method only. The value of the true \(\zeta\)-potential for rapid coagulation has been found to be slightly less than that for the slow one.
