  • using-n-nonylamine in benzene sq the extrantant for cobalt(II) from HCI solutions, the increase in the percentage extraction has been found up to 8M-HCI; it decreases with further increase in HCI molarity. At 3.5. 6.8.5, and 11M- HCI, the distribution coefficient has been determined, taking different per. centages of the amine in the diluent. The experimental data have been analysed by plotting log D against a ±HCl or log % amine. From this it is concluded that the ion pair in the solvent phase may be [RNFH]2+ (CoCI4)2—. The result has been confirmed by spectroptotometric method.
