- The composition and stability of vanadium -DCAC and niobium-DCAC chelates have been studied by spectrophotometric measurements. The red coloured chelates (\(\lambda\)max 490 m \(\mu\). at pH 5.0 and 530 m\(\mu\) at pH 5.5 respectively) have a composition 1:1 (rnetal;ligand) in each case. The chelates are stable between pH 3.5 to 6.5 (V-DCAC) and 2.0 to 7.0 (Nb-DCAC). The average values of log K as calculated by three methods are 4.5 and 4.3 at 25° (pH 5.0 and 5.5) respectively
