- The citrate complexes of magnesium and barium have been studied by pH-titration method. The anionic complexes are of 1:1 type. The magnesium and barium complexes are formed according to the equations: Mg2+ + Cit3- \(\rightleftharpoons\) MgCit- Ba2+ + Cit3- \(\rightleftharpoons\) BaCit- The formation constants of the magnesium citrate and barium citrate complexes are 4.39 X 103 and 4.32 X 103 respectively.
