- Magnetic susceptibilities of a number of cobaltic complexes, measured by Gouy's method, indicate a substantial contribution of the second-order paramagnetism of cobalt atom. The observed values for the residual paramagnetism are compared with those calculated on the basis of the ligand-fleld theory of Griffith and Orgei.
