- Synthesis of (±)-pterocarpan, (±)-homopterocarpin and (±)-7, 8, 4'-trimethoxypterocarpan from the related chromeno (3:, 4' -3, 2) coumarones are described. Two natural coumestans, e.g., trifoliol dimethyl ether (XXIII) and 5, 6, 7'-trimethoxycoumadno (3', 4'-3, 2) coumarone, have also been synthesised.
