- Monosolvates of thionyl bromide with aluminium bromide, aluminium chloride and boron (III) bromide have been isolated while the existence of the disolvates of aluminium bromide, aluminium chloride and antinomy (III) bromide has been indicated conductometrically. Conductance of the solutions has been measured to reveal their nature. It forms 1 : 2-complexes with nitrogen bases. The existence of complexes of other compositions has been indicated conductoinetrically. Electro-chemical properties like specific, molal and molar conductances of the solutions of complexes have been studied to throw light on their nature. Solid complexes of quaternary ammonium bromides have been isolated and characterised and the degree of dissociation (α) and dissociation constant (K) of these quaternary ammonium bromides have been determined in thionyl bromide.
