- Theoretical calculation of activation energy for the reactions of chloride and bromide ions with chloro and bromo succinic acid shows that contrary to previous belief these reactions proceed with activation energies (in the range of 25-38 K.cal) in the gas phase comparable to those m solution. Further the reaction with neutral atom is expected to proceed with very low activation energy.
