- Department of Chemistry, Regional Engineering College, Rourkele, Manuscript received 19 September 1972; revised 26 February 1973; accepted 21 June 1973 Bis(acetylacetonato) nickel(II) has been reacted in ethanolic medium with urea, thiourea, N-ethylthiourea, N,N'-dietbylthiourea, N-phenyl-thiourea and N,N'-diphertylthiourea and six spin-free, non-electrolytic, octahedral, mixed-ligand complexes having a general composition, [Ni(acac)2L2], have been isolated and characterised. The infra-red spectral data indicate the presence of both acetylacetone and the hetero ligands in the complexes. The electronic spectra in acetone medium indicate distorted octahedral structure for these complexes.
