University of Baroda, Baroda-2 Manuscript received 16 November 1972; revised 14 March 1973; accepted 30 May 1973 Fomation constants, \(K_{Ni.Hist.L}^{Ni.Hist}\)where L =hydroxy or mercapto acid,\(K_{Ni.NTA.L}^{Ni.NTA}\)where L = mer-capto acid and\(K_{Cu.NTA.L}^{Cu.NTA}\)where L=hydroxy acid, have been determined by using the modified method of lrving-Rossotti titration technique. Both hydroxy and thioacids behave alike as secondary ligands. It has been inferred that the contribution of \(\pi\) interaction in stabilizing M-S bond in complexse is not very significant.
