- Chemistry Department, Lucknow University, Lucknow-7 Manuscript received 1 March 1975; accepted 5 April 1975 Gallic acid has been found to be a selective reagent for the estimation of zirconium. The acid gives white crystalline precipitate at \(p\)H of 4.8. The precipitate is ignited and weighed as ZrO2. Cations like Ca+2, Ba+2, Sr+2,Mn+2, Co+2, Ni+2, Fe+3 do not interfere in the estimation.
