- Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, The University of Burdwan, Burdwan, West-Bengal Manuscript received 19 July 1974; accepted 11 April 1975 A paper chromatographic study of a series of square planar bis(1-amidino-o-alkylurea) copper(II) /nickel(II) complexes in aqueous Ka-pyridine developers has been made. Rf values decrease in the order : Ni(II) > Cu(H). Solubilities of the complexes in developers are believed to play a more significant role than the inductive effects of the substituent groups and hydrogen bond forming abilities of the ligand. An equilibrium of the following type [Cu (AAUH)2] Cl2 + 4 Py \( \rightleftharpoons\) [Cu (Py)4]Cl2+ 2 AAUH can neither be proved nor dispelled.
