- Abstract: The pollution of the eco system is caused by heavy metals and the heavy metals are released into the activity of Thermal Power Plant such as coal mining, coal combustion etc. Mercury is one of the highly toxic member in the heavy metal family that us found in various forms and it is an unique heavy metal because of staying at liquid condition in room temperature. Its very low concentration is able to cause metabolic disorders in human body. For environmental pollution, caused by Mercury fly ash dump site play the most important role as its source. Fly ash is a by product of coal burning that spread many toxic metals. The aim of this present study is to screen and characterize the fly ash habitat bacterial samples which can resist Mercury. In this experiment total three types of bacterial cultures with Hg resistant property were gotten ready for applications by enrichment culture techniques. All of the isolated bacterial samples were found having resistance to several drugs and This Mercury tolerant bacterial sample can act as potential candidates for bioremediation and phytoremediation of toxic fly ash on the soil and aquatic samples.
