- Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 Received 13 August 1975, revised 18 November 1975, accepted 14 November 1975 Eight series of .3-methyl-5-aryl-4-(substituted sulpbooamidobenzeneazo) isouzoles have been synthesised by condensing hydroxylanline hydrochloride with the appropriate %-(substituted sulphonamidobenzeoeazo) aroylacetones. The antibacterial properties of these compounds are evaluated and some of these found to exhibit marked activity.
