Manuscript received 27 September 1974; revised 19 September 1975; accepted 12 February 1976, Filter paper chromatography of [Pd(AMUH)2]Cl2 (AMUH=1— amidino-\(O\)-methylurea) in aqueous KCl-pyridine developer has helped in the Identification of hitherto unknown [Pd(AMUH)Cl2]. The synthesis of [Pd(AMUH)Cl2] has been accomplished via two routes : (i) palladium(II) promoted addition of methanol to dicyandiamide and (ii) treating Li, [Pd Cl4) with AMUH.HCI in 1:1 ratio at \(p\)H~3.0. A number of other dichloromono (1-amidino-\(O\)-alkylurea) palladinm(II) compounds have also been synthesized. These compounds readily agnate In dilute solution giving bi-univalent electrolyte conductance values. The isomeric [Pd(AMUH)2] [Pd Cl4] has also been prepared and shown to be different from [Pd (AMUH) Cl,].
