  • Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (India) Manuscript received 26 July 1977, revised 16 November 1977, accepted 1 February 1978 Potentiometric studies have been carried on complexes of 3-hydroxynaphthalene-2-carboxylie acid with Cu(ll). Ni(ll) and Co(II) in 50 vol % dioxane-water medium at these temperatures and ionic strength 0.1 M (KNO3). Calvin-Bjerrum pH titration technique as used by Irving and Rossotti has been applied to determine stability constants or the complexes. The log K values have been computed by various computational methods. Free energy, enthalpy and entropy changes have also been evaluated. The thermodynamic stability constants have also been reported by determining the stability constants of the complexes at 30° and four different ionic strengths.
