- Mayurbhanj Chemical Laboratory, Ravenshaw College, Cuttaok-753 003 Manuscript received 3 February 1978, revised 28 August 1978, accepted 3 November 1978 A series of 5-aryl-1,2-dithioles and 5-phenyl-3-hydroxythiophenes have been synthesised and assayed for fungicidal and insecticidal activities against the fungus \(Pyricularia\) \(oryzae\) (Cay.) and the insect \(Nephotettix\) \(impicticeps\). Majority of these compounds are found to possess appreciable fungicidal and insecticidal activities.
