C/o Istituto di Chimica Fisica-Universit'a. di Roma, Italy Manuscript received 19 February 1980, accepted 9 April 1980 The vapour pressure of 6-methyluracil was measured in the temperature range 426-503 K by the torsion effusion technique and pressure-temperature equation: lgP(kPa)= 1209±0.07-(6652±34)/T was determined. The sublimation enthalpy ΔH° 298= 131 ± 7 kJ/ mol was derived as mean of the results obtained by the second and third law treatment of the experimental vapour pressure data. The spectroscopic measurements of an infrared investigation on gaseous 6-methyluracil were employed in the thermodynamic functions calculations.
