  • Chemistry Department, M.L.N. College, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana Manuscript received 12 October 1979, accepted 20 December 1979 The reduction of In(III) and Eu(III) in NaClO4 (μ= 1.5) at d.m.e. is found to be quasireversible, but it becomes reversible in the presence of quinolinate ions in case of Eu(III). The Er1/2 values for the simple Eu(III) ion and for In(III)-Quinolinate system are calculated from the observed E1/2 values by Gelling's treatment and from it the kinetic parameters have been calculated. The formation constants have been calculated by DeFord and Hume method. In both systems four complex species are formed. In(III) forms stronger complex species as compared to Eu(III). The percentage distribution of the various species present in both the systems is calculated.
