Lewis acid character of these phenoxides has been established by isolating compounds of composition M(OC6H5)5. Base with nitrogenous bases. Double phenoxides of composition M'M(OC6H5)5(M=Nb or Ta; M'=Li, Na or K) have also been prepared by reacting alkali metal phenoxides in 1 : 1 molar ratio which is supported by conductometric titrations in phenol.
