  • Department of Chemistry, Science & Maths. Center, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Manuscript received 16 July 1979, accepted 30 November 1979 Drops of nitric--perchloric acid and hydrogen peroxide digestion mixture, placed in a test tube, have utilized for decomposition of organometallic compounds containing Al, Fe, Cu, U, Co, Ti, Ni, La, Th or Mo. The open tube method, besides being efficient, is convenient and rapid, decomposition occurs within 5-10 minutes. The metal content is estimated using 8.hydroxyquinoline followed by a gravimetric or a titrimetric determination. For every sample weight three results are obtained using three different methods, the average per cent error for the determination is ±0.15, ±0.11 and± 0.14, respectively. The oxygen flask combustion procedure was extended to Mo, La and Th and the average per cent error for the determination is ±0.23, ± 0.14 and ± 0.18, respectively.
