- Chemistry Department, Lucknow University, Lucknow-226 007 Manuscript received 9 September 1981, accepted 23 May 1982 Complexes of the formulae [R4N]\(\frac{2}{2}\)+[C5H10TeI2X'2]2- and [R4N]+[p-C6H5 -OC6H4TeCl2X']- , where, R=CH2 , C2H5, C2H7 or C4H9; X'=I, Br or Cl, have been synthesised by refluxing a solution of 1-telluracyclohexane 1 : 1 diiodide or p-phenoxyphenyitellurium trichloride in chloroform with tetraalkylammonium halides in the same solvent. The complexes are ionic in nature and have been characterised through analytical, conductance and molecular weight data and nmr spectral studies. The activity of the complexes against certain microorganisms has been tested but not found significant.
