Kinetic Study of Ag(l) Catalysed Oxidation of Glycine by Ce(IV) in Perchloric Acid Medium

The reaction follows first-order kinetics with respect to each Ce(IV), glycine and perchloric acid. The reaction rate is found to be accelerated by Ag(I). Formic acid and ammonia are found to be reaction products. A suitable mechanism involving formation of a transient complex [glycine-Ce(IV)] has been proposed.
