The reaction has been found to follow pseudo-first order rate law. The reaction leads to the formation of hydrazine and m-methoxybenzoic acid. Three cases of hydrolysis, applicable to three different ranges of NaOH concentrations were recognised. The activation parameters have been evaluated. The rate constants increase with increase in base concentration and attains optimum value at 3 M.
