The efficiency of acetone-trichloroacetic acid (TCA) system is evaluated in terms of distribution coefficients and suggested the following selectivity sequence, Cd \(\gg\)Zn > Co > Cu > Ca > Mn \(\approx\) Mg \(\approx\) Ni. Methods have been developed for the separation of Ca/Mn/Mg/Ni from Cd/Zn/Co in binary mixtures. Many Interesting sequential separations of metal ions from tertiary and quaternary mixtures are carried out. This ion exchange method is applied to the analysis of brass.
