  • Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur-721 302 Manuscript received 23 November 1983, revised 25 September 1984, accepted 30 April 1985 Polarographic studies of complexes of CuII, NiII and CoIII with ligands S-methyl-1-amidino-2-thiourea (HSMATU), S-ethyl-1-amidino-2-thiourea (HSEATU), N methyl-1-amidino-2-thiourea (HNMATU) and N-ethyl-1-amidino-2-thiourea (HNE­ATU) have been carried out Bis (ligand) complexes of copper S-alkyl-1-amidino-2- thiourea (HSRATU) produced two waves, the first wave being attributed to mono(ligand) complexes. A single step reduction took place in case of CaII and NiII complexes while for Com complexes, a two-step reduction was observed. Different polaro­graphic parameters calculated for these complexes were compared with those of the biguanide complexes.
