- Department of Chemistry, Saurashtra University, Rajkot-360 005 Manuscript received 7 March 1988, revised 30 October 1988, accepted 2 November 1988 Some new arylacetamide derivatives hava been prepared bearing p,p' -dihydroxydiphenylsulphone moiety. p,p'-Bis(hydrazinocarbonylmethoxy)dipbenyl salpbone was condensed with different aldehydecyanohydrin to get the respective nitriles. Tbenitrites were then treated with concentrated sulphuric acid to get acetamide derivatives.The compounds were characterised by ir and pmr spectral data. The products were also screened for antimicrobial activity.
