Manuscript received 15 September 1984, revised 13 November 1985, accepted 8 May 1986 Freshly prepared and digested forms of aluminium and ferric phosphates were mixed with an acid Ranchi soil, a neutral Madhubani soil and a calcareous Samastipur soil, and the mixtures were kept in contact with an anion-exchange resin contained in a cellophane bag under waterlogged conditions. The phosphorus uptake by the resin was determined as a function of time. The values of phosphorus release from ferric and aluminium phosphates of the soils of different locations were compared along with the pH values.
