- Chemical Research Laboratories, R. B. S. College Campus, Agra University, Agra-292 002 Manuscript received 24 March 1986, revised 16 July 2986, accepted 2 August 1986 Some octahedral MnII, coII, NiII and CuII complexes of the Schiff base derived from 2-furylglyoxal and 2-aminopyridine have been synthesised, characterised and screened for antibacterial activity against a number of microorganisms and have exhibited potential activity The complexes possess the general formula on the basis of analysis and molar conductance, [M(L)2,Cl2], where M= MnII, CoII, NiII and Cull, L=2-furylglyoical 2-aminopyridine. The geometries of the complexes have been proposed on the basis of magnetic and electronic spectral data.
