- Department of Chemistry, University of Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur-273 001 Manuscript received 14 February 1985, revised 19 May 1986, accepted 18 June 1986 The coordination behaviour of 1-leucine and N-benzoylglycine has been reported by isolating and characterising some aminoacidato complexes of nickel(II) having the general formula Ni(AA)2, Ni(AA)2.xL and Ni(AA) (OOCR), where AA - 1-leucine and N-benzoyIglycine anions; L - n-hexylamine, piperidine, pyridine, 2,2'-bipyridine, ethanol, isopropanol, t-butanol and tetranydrofuran ; R -C13H27 C15H31 and C17 H35 and x - 1 or 2. Spectral and magnetic data indicate octahedral environment around nickel(II) Ligand field parameters have been calculated and discussed. The it data reveal the bidentate nature of aminoacid anions in these complexes.
