- Inorganic Chemistry Division, National Chemical Laboratory, Poona-411 008 Manuscript received 3 October, 1989, revised 29 August 1990, accepted 12 October 1990 2,4-Dimethyl 6-hydroxyacetophenone oxime has been used as an extraction photometric reagent for the determination of microgram quantities of copper In the presence of Nill, Felll, AlIII, znII, CrIll and Phll by extracting Its complex using tartrate or diethylamine at pH 8.5-9.0. Microgram quantities of nickel were also determined in the presence of FellI, znII, CdII, AllII, Crlll and PhIl using hydroxylamine hydrochloride or diethylamine. The reagent could also be used for the simultaneous extraction photometric determination of CuII and NiII.
