  • A project management methodology is a strictly defined combination of practices, techniques, and processes that determine how best to plan, develop, and monitor a project during its continuous implementation and successful completion. Different organizations handle functional projects differently. Some of them have fragmented and decentralized groups with multiple names indicating projects. In contrast, others may have a large number of project management specialists in a centralized support organization. The various methodologies used for Project Management in the IT sector are aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the implemented activities, taking into account various features, such as innovativeness, high technologies, different levels of the unpredictability of results, short product lifecycle, seriously lost profits caused by a delay in project implementation, etc. The article presents a methodological approach to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of IT Project Management, which is part of a comprehensive study in Bulgarian high-tech companies. The purpose of the article is to study the methodology of economic efficiency of IT project management. Theoretical research methods were used in work. These include scientific analysis of sources on this issue, which allowed us to formulate the initial provisions of the study, analysis of results, monitoring. Results. A special methodology for studying the level of implementation of various management methods in IT projects in Ukrainian companies has been developed, based on indicators and criteria for selecting projects in connection with innovations. As a result, the convenience of using various methods of project implementation in Ukrainian IT companies was established. Conclusions. Traditional and flexible methods are studied on the basis of various developed indicators that determine the time lost and increased costs for the final product and result due to imperfect management of IT projects of companies. Prospects for further research are an empirical study of the effectiveness of IT project management.
