Cu(Gly) (BzH)+, M(Gly) (Bz), where M-CoII, NIII, CuII and ZnII ; and Co(gly) (H_1Bz)-, where BzH-SMPBzH. Stability of ternary M(Gly) (Bz) complexes were found to be in the order, SMPBz>SEBz> SMBz, for the Bz ligands. Effects of electronic structure of the metal ions, multidentism of the BzH ligands, nature of the donor atoms, π-electron delocalisation in the metal - ligand bonds and intramolecular ligand-ligand stacking interaction on the stability of these ternary complexes have been discussed.
