  • Ahaetulla prasina prasina (Boie, 1827) Material examined. MHLCLFE C 168 (male; SVL 686 mm, TaL 380 mm), about 2 km south of Mukomuko, Province of Sumatera Barat, elev. 500 m. Taxonomic comments. This green specimen is typical of this species as defined by Smith (1943), in spite of its entire anal plate. This species currently includes three subspecies, of which only the nominate form occurs on Sumatra. Scalation: VEN 213; SC 178. Distribution on Sumatra. Provinces of Aceh, Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Barat, Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, Sumatera Selatan, and Lampung (David & Vogel, 1996; this work); also the islands of Pulau We, Bangka, Belitung, Nias and Simeulue, and Mentawai Archipelago and Riau Archipelago (David & Vogel, 1996). Biology. This specimen was perched on a branch at 1.5 m above the ground, at day, on the edge of a forest near the western shore of Lake Maninjau. Some other green specimens were seen in captivity in Lubukbasung.
