New name for B. guildingi Dohrn, 1875 not Pfeiffer, 1842. Plekocheilus ameghinoi Parodiz; Richardson 1995: 302 (references, synonymy). Material. Antioquia/Córdoba, Rio Esmeralda, Upper Rio Sinú, Carriker leg./ 1949: USNM 601774.?, “U S Colombia:” ANSP 104845, USNM 532640, USNM 532644 (ex Fulton, Chamberlain Colln). Remarks. Both the Rio Esmeralda and the Rio Sinú run from northern Antioquia to Córdoba; the reference to “Upper Rio Sinú” suggests that the specific location is probably in the highlands of the border area between both departments in the Parque Nacional Natural Paramillo. This is the first precise locality for this species. Pilsbry (1901: 129) was the first to notice the homonymy of this species with Bulimus guildingi Pfeiffer, 1842; therefore he suppressed Dohrn’s name in favour of Sowerby’s. Later Parodiz (1962) introduced the name Plekocheilus (Eurytus) ameghinoi as a new name for P. guildingi (Dohrn), apparently unaware of Pilsbry’s action. Köhler (2007: 127, fig. 3) found three probable syntypes of Bulimus guildingi Dohrn (type locality: “Neu Granada ”) in the Berlin museum.
