- Plekocheilus (Aeropictus) succineoides complex Remarks. Under this heading we are grouping together the following taxa: P. succineoides (Petit de la Saussaye, 1840), P. latilabris (Pfeiffer, 1855), P. cleeforum Breure, 1977 and P. zilchi Breure, 1977. The latter two are tentatively treated as subspecies, awaiting further detailed studies of these taxa using morphological, anatomical and molecular characteristics. We follow the original spelling of this species’ name (after Petit de la Saussaye, 1840): succineoides. A misspelling of this name (viz. succinoides) has been used widely and is therefore better known, but differs from the original name and must be considered incorrect.
