- Chemistry Department, Patna University, Patna-800 005 Manuscript received 20 May 1982, revised 10 February 1986, accepted 26 November 1986 The copper(II) and nickel(II) acetylacetonates [Mα(acac)2] have been used as double-faced ligands (complex ligand) in the synthesis of novel trinuclear alkali metal complexes of the general formula [Mα(acac)2 (MbL)2] where Mα — Cull and Nill ; MbL — Li, Na or K salt of the deprotonated 8-hydruxyquinoline, 1-nitroso-2-naphthol, o-nitrophenol and anthranilic acid. On the basis of magnetic, ir, and electronic spectral data, the attachment of alkali metal ions through the oxygen atoms of carbonyl group of acetylacetonates, have been suggested.
