- Eisenia andrei Bouché, 1972 Eisenia foetida var. unicolor André, 1963: 24. Eisenia fetida andrei Bouché, 1972: 381. Eisenia andrei: Sims & Gerard 1999: 79. Ecology. Epigeic species that is only known from vermicultures of Eisenia fetida (Sims & Gerard 1999). In Croatia it also occurs in dung heaps (Hackenberger Kutuzović & Hackenberger Kutuzović 2013). Zoogeographical distribution type. Peregrine species that is reported sporadically from Great Britain, Norway, France, Italy and the United States. New record from Croatia (Hackenberger Kutuzović & Hackenberger Kutuzović 2013). Distribution in Germany. No reference known from the field in the literature, but the species also occurs in German vermicultures (J. Römbke, unpublished data) and is the most-often used species in ecotoxicological test laboratories. Taxonomic remark. The species was first described as Eisenia foetida var. unicolor by André (1963). Bouché (1972) recognized André's variety as a subspecies and renamed it E. fetida andrei. Based on Jaenike (1982) and Øien & Stenersen (1984), Sims and Gerard (199) considered E. andrei as a species of its own.
