Similarly to the species pair Murchieona minuscula (Rosa, 1905) and M. muldali (Omodeo, 1956), the D. cognettii populations also show some North-South European geographical separation. The position of the clitellum is usually on 33 –37,38 in the Central and Northern European specimens and on 32 –36,37 in the Balkanic specimens. Dendrobaena cognettii represents a new record for the fauna of Turkey.
