The molecular weights of hydroxamic acids are determined. The thermodynamic ionisation constants (pKa,) of the hydroxamic acids in 50% (v/v) dioxan-water media are determined at 25±0.1°. The rate of alkaline hydrolysis of hydroxamic acids and reaction mechanism are discussed
