- Aximopsis vulgata (Brèthes) new combination urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: 721 F 75 DE- 370 C- 4 BB 3 -B 985 -AAD 588 AEDDEB Eurytoma vulgata Brèthes, 1916 b: 416. Holotype, female, by monotypy. Type material. A single card mounted female bearing four labels: “ 12038 /Bs. Aires/Bs. Aires, 19.IV. 1915 / Eurytoma vulgata Br. ” [all handwritten]. The specimen is missing its left antenna, which is slide mounted and matches the illustration published by Brèthes. The slide has a hand written label left of the antenna, “ Eurytoma vulgata Brèthes, Type, B. As., A.M.N.BA XXVII. 416, 128 Hym” and a small types tag in the upper right, “E 33 ” (Fig. 6). Nomenclature and notes. Upon examination of the type specimen (Fig. 17), this species belongs in Aximopsis. It clearly has preorbital carinae, carinate lateral margins of the pronotum, procoxal carinae forming a shelf, etc., which define the genus (Lotfalizadeh et al. 2007). The species was based on a single specimen given that Brèthes gave a single body length measurement and refers to, “Une female obtenue parasite d’une galle d’ Eupatorium crenulatum que je suppose produite par un Lépidoptère. Buénos Aires, IV, 1915.” He mentions nothing about a slide mounted antenna and the label data does not completely correspond with that reported in the description.
