- Data files for the LES cases vertical mean and turbulent profiles, output from the virtual lidar ensemble, and virtual lidar truth references supporting Robey and Lundquist, "Behavior and Mechanisms of Lidar Error in Varying Stability Regimes.” "lidar_observations.nc" contains the output from the ensemble of the virtual lidar. Data spans each of the stability cases (strong CBL, weak CBL, stable BL) and instrument offset angles which rotate the lidar-retrieved winds back into the LES coordinate system. Reconstructions of the vertical velocity using WCV1 (w_est_v1) and WCV2 (w_est_v2 with wind direction weighting) are both included. "volume_averaged_truth.nc" and "pointwise_truth.nc" contain the reference truths for the virtual instrument measurements. Pointwise values are interpolated at each range gate height above the instrument and the volume averaged truth is computed over the 35.3m high cylinder scan volume as described in the manuscript. Data spans each of the stability cases (strong CBL, weak CBL, stable BL) and may be used for each of the offset angles. "pointwise_error.nc" and "volume_averaged_error.nc" contain the error across the ensemble of WCV2 lidar measurements with respect to the pointwise and volume averaged truths for u, v, w, and horizontal wind speed and direction. "perturbations.nc" gives the velocity perturbations from the scan-volume velocity (u_E-U) at each beam (N,E,S,W) as well as due to the RWF weighting as described in the manuscript. "les_profile_scbl.nc", "les_profile_wcbl.nc", and "les_profile_stbl.nc" gives mean vertical profiles and some turbulent variance moments for each of the LES test cases (Strong CBL, Weak CBL, Stable BL).
