Eumenidion von Schulthess, 1913: 2, as subgenus of Eumenes Latreille. Type species: “ Eumenes coarctatus L.” [= Ves pa coarctata Linnaeus, 1758], by original designation. The genus Eumenes is large and widespread, with more than 100 species and 45 additional subspecies, mostly reported from temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere (van der Vecht & Fischer 1972, Krombein 1979). Coloration of these wasps varies from black and brown with yellow, orange, red or white markings. Their metasoma appears to be "bulbous" with the first metasomal segment narrow and elongated.
